Bridge to the Future Scholarship

Bridge to the Future Scholarship logo The Bridge to the Future Scholarship is awarded to all high school seniors from Van Buren District Secondary School, Madawaska High School, Wisdom High School, or Fort Kent Community High School that enroll and attend the University of Maine at Fort Kent the fall semester directly following graduation. The scholarship amount is for $1,000 (eligible classes 2014, 2015, and 2016).

  1. All members of the graduating class are eligible for the scholarship.
  2. In order to receive the scholarship, students must graduate on time with a traditional high school diploma with all Maine credit requirements completed prior to graduation. Students who receive or enroll in an alternative diploma program will not be eligible for the scholarship.
  3. In order to receive the scholarship students must apply for admission to the University of Maine at Fort Kent, enrolling in classes beginning in September immediately after graduation, meet all admission requirements, and be accepted into a two or four-year degree program. Students must be registered in a degree program and cannot be enrolled as a non-degree student. If a student fails to meet admission criteria the scholarship will no longer be available. If a student is accepted for the Fall semester and extenuating circumstances (e.g. death in the family, medical incidents, or other circumstances deemed appropriate by the UMFK Director of Financial Aid) render it impossible for the student to attend UMFK during that semester, the scholarship will be applied to the Spring semester. The scholarship will not be applied, regardless of circumstances, after the Spring semester.
  4. The one-time scholarship will be in the amount of $1000 and will be applied to the student’s financial aid package (barring exceptions explained above).
